Biostatistician consulting services are available to all LA BioMed investigators utilizing inpatient or outpatient GCRC services at any time throughout the lifetime of a study, from initial planning through final analysis and publication. The biostatistician reviews all GCRC protocols for design integrity and statistical validity and provides assistance to investigators as needed.
Services Available to LA BioMed Investigators
- Study design: Basic design, group assignments, randomization methods, treatment allocation, measurement criteria, outcome definition
- Power and sample size calculation
- Developing the Analysis Plan for the Study
- Assistance in writing protocols
- Developing randomization schedules
- Designing the data base
- Guidance in data analysis and interpretation of results
- If special software is required and available, assistance in accessing and installing the software
- Interpretation of final results
- Training in statistical methods and use of statistical software, available to participate in journal clubs to discuss statistical aspects of articles

- The biostatistics core includes one PhD biostatistician and consultative service from UCLA-CHS
